For Year 11 students Taylah Collins and Mietta Caruso, attending the Deakin University Open Day turned out to be one of the best decisions they’ve made all year. Out of more than 10,000 registrations for Open Day, the BSSC friends were winners of the Deakin ‘Bring a Friend’ campaign.
A today’s advisor session, Taylah and Mietta were presented with their prizes by Deakin University’s Student recruitment Coordinator, Jared Hobley… a $2000 Visa gift card and brand new iPhone XR.
Mr Hobley, a former BSSC student, was at the college today to talk students through the courses offered across the Burwood, Geelong Waterfront and Waurn Ponds campuses and answer questions on topics such as choosing a Major, meeting entry requirements, online courses, accommodation options, and the opportunities for overseas study.
He said he was thrilled when he heard that the major prize winners were from BSSC.
“It was a fantastic competition,” he said, “and exciting to hear that students from my old school were the overall winners.”
