Melissa describes her teaching career as “very rewarding” and sees her move to Bendigo Senior as a chance to step out of her comfort zone.
For almost 12 years she has been teaching English and Humanities at Bendigo South East College—which she really enjoyed—but says the move to BSSC is an opportunity to focus on the more rigorous curriculum content and delivery demanded by VCE.
She has always enjoyed seeing students learning and achieving—especially when they are aiming for a specific career.
“I want to do all I can to ensure students in my classes are reaching the educational goals they set and I enjoy the relationships you form that can have such a positive impact on a student’s education.”
During Step Up Melissa discovered a very welcoming and supportive setting, and has been looking forward to being part of BSSC and working closely with colleagues and students.
“It’s also been great to see familiar faces of teachers I have taught with previously at BSE, and of course the students from BSE too.”
When Melissa is not at the college—or marking or preparing classes—she is a dedicated committee member of the Mount Pleasant Football Netball Club.
“My family has been part of this club since its inception, and I’m presently the secretary of the club.”
Welcome to BSSC Melissa!
