AFL WOMENS – SANDHURST DIVISION

Our AFL womens team has started its 2019 season with a win against Catherine McAuley College in the Sandhurst Division competition. BSSC kicked two goals in the first half and kept their opposition to a single point. The CMC girls staged a fight-back early in the second half and got within 10 points but the BSSC girls kicked the last couple of goals to win 5.9.39 to 2.2.14. Goals: Jemma Finning, Bree Heiden, Mia Ward, Emily Cooper and Amy Cooper.

The girls now progress to the Loddon Mallee Region finals on Wednesday 29 May at Epsom.

ATHLETICS – SANDHURST DIVISION

Our track and field athletes had a very successful day at the Sandhurst Division athletics carnival in Bendigo today. BSSC won the Senior Age Group Champion award and two of our athletes won individual Age Group Champion awards – Bree Heiden (18-20yr) and Abbey Hromenko (17yr).

In addition, our athletes broke several records. Abbey Hromenko established new records in the hurdles, triple jump, and high jump. Bree Heiden broke the javelin and discus records. Daniel Baldwin in the hurdles, Niah Langtree in the 100m, and Zahli Drummond in the 1500m also broke records.

AFL PREMIER LEAGUE

The biggest match on the boys football calendar takes place next Wednesday 22 May, when the BSSC Lions take on Catherine McAuley College in the second round of AFL Premier League. The game will be played on the Queen Elizabeth Oval commencing at 12:30pm.
