AFL 2nd XVIII – Sun Country Cup v Braemar College

Our 2nd XVIII football team travelled to Castlemaine last Wednesday to take on Braemar College in the final round of the AFL Sun Country Cup. The BSSC boys had plenty of the ball in the first quarter but couldn’t capitalise on their opportunities, kicking 1.6 to Braemar’s 4.2. We out-scored the opposition in a very competitive second quarter to go into the half-time break trailing by only nine points. Braemar controlled the game in the third quarter and kicked 5.1 to 2.2 to lead by 26 points at the final change. The BSSC boys never gave up and played a great last quarter to eventually go down 14.10.94 to 9.11.65

Netball – Loddon Mallee Region finals

Congratulations to our girls netball team on winning the Loddon Mallee Region finals in Echuca. They won all their matches for the day, defeating Maryborough Education Centre (36 – 3), Swan Hill Secondary College (30 – 11), Rochester Secondary College (33 – 10) and St. Joseph’s Echuca (32 – 5). They now progress to the SSV State finals in Melbourne on Friday 2 September.

Members of the winning team were Emily Cossar, Elley Lawton, Ava Lowndes, Danielle Markwell, Georgia Miller, Kelsey Ralph, Abbey Ryan, Kate Salvador, Milly Wicks, and Keely Wilson. The team was coached by Jayden Cowling. Scorer was Baylee Yanner and umpire was Nicola McIvor.

 

Basketball – Loddon Mallee Region finals

Congratulations to our girls basketball team on finishing in a tie for first place at the Loddon Mallee Region finals in Echuca today. They had two wins and a draw for the day, defeating Swan Hill Secondary College (46 – 15), Mildura Senior College (37 – 30) and drawing with St Joseph’s Echuca (31 – 31). The team finished equal on points and percentage with St Joseph’s Echuca, and a decision will be made in the next few days to determine how the winner is to be decided, and progress to the SSV State finals.

Members of the team were Dainah Blow, Brooke Mangan, Rachelle Mangan, Elisa Pica, Taylah Pointon, Lucinda Smythe, Taylor Stibbe, and Keisha Tonzing. The team was coached by Kevin White, with team manager Teesha Smedley.
