SSV State Championship semi-finalists

The School Sport Victoria (SSV) State Championships for Senior Badminton was held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) on Monday 11th August.

The Bendigo Senior Secondary College (BSSC) had both the girls and boy’s teams qualify for the event.

The matches consisted of 4 singles and 2 doubles within the allocated time frame. Each team played 3 round games with the top 2 of each pool qualifying for finals.

Kiara Richardson, Isabella Mayer, Lisa Smith, Azalea Boyer & Th Yu Paw Pu Ku La represented BSSC in the girls team while Adam Fisher, Flynn Murphy, Rajbir Singh and Yuhui Zheng played in the boys section.

The Senior Girls made it through to Semi Finals of the Championships by defeating Mt Clear and Grace Christian College, Wodonga in the round games. They fell short to Melbourne Girls College and finished second in their pool which meant they played the number one ranked team in East Doncaster from the other pool. The girls played well throughout the day, finishing with the great achievement of top 4 in the state!

The Senior Boys had some great matches against Brauer College, Reservoir High School and Notre Dame College in their round games. The matches were very competitive with individual sets being close. Despite not winning a match, the boys certainly won their fair share of sets and played well throughout the day.

Congratulations to both teams and thank you to Scott Collier for coaching the teams throughout the year.
