Bendigo’s Lucas Herbert was among four Australians to earn their full card on the China PGA Tour Series for 2018 after he finished second by one shot in the first qualifying school tournament.
Herbert was pipped by American Jeffrey Kang, who shot eight birdies in a 6-under final round on Sunday to secure victory.
Kang finished 13-under, one shot ahead of Herbert (12-under) at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Haikou.
The top 15 in the tournament earned their full cards for the 2018 China PGA Tour Series.
Herbert’s final round on Sunday included six birdies on his first nine holes.
“I felt really good out there. It was good to get off to a really hot start and take advantage of that front nine downwind,” Herbert said.
PGA TOUR Series-China Q-School leader Lucas Herbert sits at 8-under after 2 rounds and is on the hunt for his season card and also a new nickname.
