Making the move to Melbourne
BSSC Alumna, Emily Mannix, returned to the college today to talk about her experience of moving away to study in Melbourne.
Emily is enrolled in Pharmacy at Monash University’s Parkville campus and lives nearby at Janet Clarke Hall.
Living in this small and supportive college has been a thoroughly positive move for Emily and, although she misses the slower more relaxed pace of life in Bendigo, she is loving being just down the road from Lygon Street’s ‘foodie’ opportunities and the numerous benefits that living on campus bring.
Her message to those who came to hear her was to visit a variety of colleges.
“Try to talk with students presently living there and apply early for a place at those you like,” she said. “Generous bursaries and scholarships are available and colleges offer lots of benefits and opportunities.
“The most fantastic thing about his year so far has been the constant intellectual stimulation, the great variety of activities, sports and events—and the fact that I know everybody who lives at JCH so it feels more like a family.”
