BSSC VCE students have access to diverse workplace experiences including the SBAT program (School based apprenticeship and traineeship).

Mock Weston and Letitia Crowley have been involved in placements one day per week at the Bendigo Police Station over the past 18 months.

Participating in the day to day work of Victoria Police has been a positive experience for the students.

“I’m really enjoying this placement,” Mock said. “I’ve learnt so much—and I’ve really enjoyed going out with the Highway Patrol.

“The atmosphere is busy and focussed, but much more positive and friendly than I expected. I would definitely recommend this placement to other students.”

Letitia’s experiences have made her even more eager for a career with Victoria Police.

“I’ve particularly enjoyed the variety of the work and I always feel welcomed and appreciated,” she said.

Asked about how Mock and Letitia are meeting expectations, one supervisor enthused about the students’ great attitudes.

“Everyone looks forward to seeing them each week,” she said. “We hope our work placement students experience that Victoria Police is an inclusive organisation that’s good to work for.”
