Don’t miss this great opportunity to attend the Women Showing the Way Forum.  Hear from some amazing women who make a difference in their communities.

You will be part of round table discussions aimed at motivating young women to reach their full potential and become involved in community life.

Lunch is provided at the conclusion of the forum and will include networking opportunities with community leaders and guest speakers.

BSSC has been allocated up to 30 places for our students.  If you are female, in Year 11 and would like to attend, you need to put in your expression of interest to Linda Lyons by Wednesday 10 August via personal contact or email:  lyons.linda@bssc.edu.au

BSSC will approve student absences created as a result of attendance at this event.

Lisa Chesters MP, Federal Member for Bendigo will officially open the forum and Cr Lisa Ruffell will be the MC.

 

Guest speakers will include:

Anne Carey – Anne is a nurse, midwife and has spent her life helping others.  She has provided health care in remote communities across Papua New Guinea, Northern Territory and Western Australia.  As an Australian Red Cross aid worker, she has worked in Sudan, Kenya and most recently Sierra Leone on the frontline against the deadly Ebola virus.

Tasneem Chopra – Tasneem is African of birth, but Indian heritage with an Australian upbringing.  She is a curator, consultant, author and prominent activist and has addressed many social justice issues on a number of platforms.

Kelsey Griffin – Kelsey is an American-Australian professional women’s basketball player.  She was drafted 3rd overall in the 2010 WNBA draft and currently plays for the Bendigo Spirt in the WNBL.
