Who knew there were so many opportunities to work in the water industry?

Bendigo has been hosting the 82nd Victorian Water Industry Operations Conference and Expo. A group of 24 BSSC VCAL students went along to find out what it was all about.

This conference brought together people from the amazing variety of roles that are involved in managing our water.

The water industry needs plumbers, bobcat operators, hydrologists, scientists and laboratory technicians, divers, pump mechanics and network operators—just to name a very few!!

Students were divided into groups led by people involved across the industry. Elise O’Keefe, who explained the process of water from source to its final management as wastewater, also told students that many of the roles do not require university qualifications and on-the-job training is provided.
