It was a proud morning for recent BSSC graduates Julia and Amelia Hunt. The sisters were both officially awarded Scholarships by Youthrive CEO, Dr Maryann Brown at this morning’s Year 12 assembly in the Ulumbarra Theatre.
Julia, who begins Early Childhood Studies at Bendigo TAFE later this month, was selected as the 2020 Rural Chances Scholar for her commitment to rural and regional Victoria by training in an area of skills need.
Amelia, who will study a double degree in Global Studies and Law at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne, was awarded 2020 Youthrive Victorian Rural Scholarship based on her leadership potential and commitment to regional communities.
As well as financial support, both will receive mentoring and take part in a leadership program as part of the scholarship.
Dr Brown said that both Julia and Amelia demonstrated commitment to their studies, leadership and strong community engagement.
“They are resilient and determined to contribute,” she said. “Victorian rural and regional communities will be thriving, with strong input from skilled, resilient and motivated young people such as Amelia and Julia.”
