Eight years ago Tom Hadlow, inspired by John Butler, began playing guitar. Now he is stoked to have been selected as one of two Victorian students selected to play guitar for the Victorian State Schools Spectacular in front of an audience of thousands at Hisense Arena later this year. The Spectacular—a musical, dance, performance extravaganza—will involve around 3000 students and will be filmed for TV.
Tom now has the challenge of learning the 40 new pieces he will play for the event—while keeping up with his VCE studies, commitments to BSSC’s ‘The Walking Band’ and involvements with other local bands, such as ‘Jackdaw’.
Future plans include tertiary studies in music and one day, hopefully, a full-time gig in the music industry. No doubt his participation in this event will sit very well on his resume.
