BSSC Year 12 student, Jack Molloy, recently spent a week of Structured Workplace Learning onsite with Broadway Builders. This experience has enhanced the skillset Jack obtained in VET Building & Construction studies at BSSC, and he now has great insight into the industry. He loves that every day is different for a builder.
Jack undertook the labouring responsibilities of a first-year apprentice and was well supported by the boys at Broadway Builders. Working on a new house build and helping prepare materials for a variety of installations throughout the site, taught Jack the importance of ‘measure twice, cut once’. Maintaining the site and keeping spaces clean was an important role Jack was given.
“I’ve really enjoyed my placement and have learnt a lot,” Jack says. “I wouldn’t mind being a builder, but I’m keen to explore other trades too—like plumbing—so I can get a good understanding of the career I will choose once I’ve completed school.”
