BSSC Year 12 student, Gus Bradley, recently completed a Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placement with Bendigo Speedometer & Instrument Service.
Here he gained hands-on experience with the electrical and automotive systems used in olive harvesters and other agricultural equipment.
As part of the placement, he travelled with the team to Boort and Cobram, and was able to see the varied locations and environments where this specialised work is carried out.
Gus enjoyed the opportunity to work on air conditioning systems, vehicle cabins, and heavy automotive systems, seeing firsthand how automotive, electrical and mechanical systems come together in the maintenance and repair of large agricultural machinery.
Currently studying VET Automotive and VET Agriculture as part of his Year 12 program, the placement connected well with both areas of study and gave Gus the chance to apply his developing skills in a real workplace.
Gus came away from this placement more aware of the career opportunities that combine automotive technology with the agricultural industry.
