BSSC VET Allied Health student, Harry Hiller, spent two days at St John of God hospital undertaking Structured Workplace Learning (SWL).
Placement hours are required for VET Allied Health but SWL also gives students real life experience in a health setting.
Harry found it interesting learning about the practices used to care for patients, and was doing a great job with Rueben, seen pictured with Harry.
“I’ve found it’s not just the medical care that helps patients, I’ve learnt so much from chatting to them. It’s helped me practice my communication skills in a setting where people aren’t feeling their best,” Harry says. “My career goal is to become a paramedic, so it’s been so interesting to see how much goes into caring for people’s health.”
