Step Up provided the perfect opportunity to catch up with BSSC’s STEM students that were fortunate enough to be selected for two incredible opportunities next year.
The Strengthening Engagement and Achievement in Mathematics and Science (SEAMS) program is run by Monash University—in partnership with the University of Melbourne—and runs in January.
Year 12 BSSC students Olympia van Maanen, Heidi Tustain, Pallas Condon and Tina Budair were accepted into the program and are looking forward to the three-day camp during the school holidays.
SEAMs is an opportunity for students to connect, interact, be inspired and discover the possibilities maths and science have to offer through interactive workshops and academic sessions.
Representing BSSC at the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in January are Year 12 students Amy Jefferis, Sarah Arnold, Heidi Tustain, Darcy Ryan, Mary Maple Worley, Isabella Vercoe, Ella Heyme, Seannah Bowen and Isabel Lovriha (not all pictured).
“NYSF is the most amazing, life-changing experience offered to Bendigo students,” says Rotary’s Lynne Cooper. “The combined Rotary clubs of Bendigo are very proud to support our STEM students.”
We look forward to hearing about our students’ experiences next year!
