BASKETBALL GIRLS – LODDON MALLEE REGION FINALS
Our girls basketball team has narrowly missed out on qualifying for the SSV finals after finishing runners-up in this week’s Loddon Mallee Region finals. In the first round, the Lions trailed Maryborough Education Centre for the majority of the game, but managed to score the last few points to eventually win 33–31. Their second game against St Joseph’s Echuca followed a similar pattern, trailing for most of the game and finally drawing level with a couple of minutes to go. Unfortunately it was St Joseph’s who scored the final few points to win 32–28. In the final round our
girls trailed 26–16 at half-time but stormed home in the second half to defeat Mildura Senior College 43–34.
Great effort from the team: Hayley Harrington, Shardae Sharp, Maddi Dobeli, Taylah Lindrea, Skylah Roberts, Tara Archbold, and Ruby Pointon.
NETBALL GIRLS – LODDON MALLEE REGION FINALS
A single goal was the deciding factor for our girls netball team, finishing runners-up in this week’s Loddon Mallee Region finals. The Lions started slowly in their first game against SMOTA, but gradually built momentum throughout the game and eventually won 43–23. Their second-round opponent was Swan Hill SC. Once again our girls started slowly and trailed by a goal at half-time. After the break they played some great netball and established a four-goal lead with a few minutes to play, but a late fight-back from Swan Hill resulted in a one goal loss for the Lions.
Well done to the team: Abbey Grindal, Macy Brown, Georgia Lowther, Hayley McLeod, Ella Wicks, Bree Heiden, Alice Layton, Kayla Ashcroft, Maya Van Es, and Mabel Kean.
