The boys came up against a very strong Catherine McAuley College team in the first round and played extremely well, but went down five sets to one. They won their other match against Girton by four sets to two. The girls now progress to the Loddon Mallee Region finals in Mildura.

Girls’ team: Court Warren, Katie McKellar, Leah Bicknell, Andrea Steel

Boys’ team: Kealy Osewald, Kyle Johnston, Josh Brown, Jonathan Krietemeyer, Gerard Power

Our BSSC basketball teams performed well at this week’s Rowville Invitational Tournament. This tournament brings together a number of schools with specialist basketball programs so the standard of competition is always very high. The girls won their first three games against Maribyrnong, St Monica’s, and Hallam, with two of those games being decided by a single point. They were defeated by the two teams that made the grand final – Rowville and Templestowe.

The boys were unable to manage a win, but were very competitive in their losses to Rowville, Maribyrnong, and Templestowe. Well done to all players.

Girls team – Makayle Dole, Taylah Lindrea, Bree Heiden, Ahlise Hurst, Shardae Sharp, Poppy Blanch, Hayley Harrington, Alice Layton, Ella Wicks, Jess Rennie (Assistant Coach), and Joe Hurst (Coach).

Boys team – Darcy Jacobs, Ryan Salvador, Trent Leech-Pateman, Aaron Cunningham, Mitch Christensen, Xavier Salm, Hayden Parrott, Tyler Barnett, Nick Skinner, Daine Grace, and Joe Hurst (Coach).
