Badminton – SSV finals
Our girls and boys badminton teams encountered some tough opposition at the SSV finals at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre. All team members played very well on the day, but were unable to match the quality of their opposition. Both teams were defeated in their three round-robin matches, but the girls went very close to defeating Ballarat in their final game. Well done to both teams, and their coach Scott Collier.

Mountain bike orienteering
Riley Hillier and Darcy Jacobs represented BSSC last Friday at the Victorian Schools Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships. Neither of the boys had competed in this type of event before, so it was great achievement for them to achieve a third placing in the pairs event. They located 19 of the 20 controls, and did not incur any time penalties by finishing the course inside the allocated two hours. Well done boys.
Table tennis – SSV finals
Our boys table-tennis team performed well at the SSV State Finals at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre. They encountered some very talented opposition in their round-robin matches, and were unable to qualify for the semi-finals. It was a great achievement to reach the state finals, after success in our local division and Loddon Mallee Region competitions. Well done to team members North Ketkaew, Dinghao Huo, Douglas Decker, Tyler Rainbow, and coach, Craig Woodward.
Vic Country Under – 17 AFL Futures
Congratulations to Zane Keighran and Daine Grace who were both involved in the Vic Country Under 17 AFL Future’s weekend. The weekend involved information sessions on high performance, welfare, football craft, etc., and finished with a game against Vic Metro at Ikon Park on Saturday. The Vic Country team had a big win!! Well done boys.
AFL Sun Country Cup inter-regional final
Best of luck to the BSSC 2nd XVIII football team when they compete in the AFL Sun Country Cup Inter-Regional Final against Daylesford High School. The game will be played on Tuesday, 22nd August at Camp Reserve, Castlemaine.
Bendigo Academy of Sport volleyball trials
The Bendigo Academy of Sport will soon be conducting selection trials for the 2017-18 volleyball squad. Successful candidates will be offered a 10 month Academy Program beginning in September. Trials take place from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday 5th and 12th of September. Registrations close on Friday 1 September. Athletes must be under 18 years of age as of 31/12/2017.
