TENNIS – Sandhurst Division
Our boys and girls tennis teams played against Catholic College Bendigo in today’s Sandhurst Division competition.
The girls team played extremely well and won all four singles matches, and both doubles matches. The final result saw BSSC defeat CCB 6 sets, 36 games to 0 sets, 8 games. An excellent result for our team of Sally Warren, Christie Dutra, Courtney Warren, Leah Bicknell, and Hannah Trewick. The girls have now qualified for the Loddon Mallee Region finals to be played in Mildura early in May.
The boys came up against a more experienced and consistent CCB team, and while they were unable to win any sets, they were very competitive throughout the day. CCB won 6 sets, 36 games to 0 sets, 9 games. A commendable effort from our team of Josh Brown, Igor Hewitt, Joel Hodge, and Harry Lomas.

CRICKET – Loddon Mallee Region Finals
Our cricket teams performed well at the recent Loddon Mallee Region finals. Both the boys and girls teams were very competitive on the day, but were unable to progress to the next level.
Our girls matched up against Mildura Senior College. They bowled first and restricted Mildura to 6 for 96 after their 20 overs. All our bowlers did a great job in containing Mildura and some good fielding helped to keep the total down.
In reply, BSSC got off to a great start, with openers Ashlee McLeod and Kelsey Ralph putting on 54 in the first 13 overs with Ashlee making 32 and Kelsey 13. The bowling from the Mildura team was excellent in the final overs, and we were unable to increase the run rate sufficiently to run down their total. The BSSC girls finished with 6 for 78 after their 20 overs.
Well done to team members Bec Conway, Em Cossar, Alyssa Evans, Em Gray, Rosie Jeffrey, Taylor Mann, Danielle Markwell, Ashlee McLeod, Choney Meemusor, Kelsey Ralph, Sam Reaper, Zara White, and coach, Mark Fox.
Our boys had a comfortable win in their first game against Nathalia. After restricting Nathalia to just 63 from their 20 overs, the BSSC boys made light work of the run chase and achieved their target after 9 overs. All bowlers were economical, with each taking at least one wicket. James Schischka finished with 2 for 7 from his 4 overs. In the run chase, Zane Keighran scored 48 from just 27 balls, including six 4’s and two 6’s.
The win put the boys into the final against Maryborough. Bowling first, BSSC restricted Maryborough to 113 from their 20 overs, with Josh Williams taking 2 for 15 from his 4 overs. In reply, our boys maintained a steady run rate and eventually needed about 6 runs per over from the final 4 overs. Unfortunately some late wickets saw BSSC fall just 6 runs short of victory. Jackson Guan batted well, making 30, with good contributions from James Schischka (22), Manning Walsh (13), and Justin Slater (13).
Well done to the team of Jack Bourke, Bailey Goodwin, Jackson Guan, Bailey Henderson, Zane Keighran, Jay McLeod, Jarrett Miles, Darcy Poulter, James Schischka, Justin Slater, Jasper Stewart, Manning Walsh, Josh Williams, and coach Duane Anderson.
