Cross-country – Loddon Mallee Region finals

Our cross-country team travelled to St Arnaud during the week to compete in the Loddon Mallee Region Finals. In the boys 17-20 year age group, Tom Barkmeyer and Hugh Schaeche competed as individuals and finished second and fourth respectively.

We had a great result in the boys 17-20 year team event, with Jordan Buckell, Jake Hilson, Reza Azimi, Jake Alcock, and Nathan James winning their age group. Of the seven boys who competed, five of them finished in the top ten placings (Tom 2nd, Hugh 4th, Jordan 6th, Jake Hilson 7th, and Reza 10th). Kate Salvador was our only female competitor. She finished a very respectable fourth in the girls 17-20 year age group.

AFL – Premier League v Catholic College Bendigo

Our Premier League footballers came up against a very strong team from Catholic College Bendigo today at the QEO on Wednesday. CCB took control of the game in the first quarter with some great running and fierce tackling, kicking 6.3.39 to BSSC 1.1.7. The BSSC boys had the better of the second quarter but couldn’t capitalise on the scoreboard, kicking 1.5 for the quarter to narrow the margin slightly at half time. CCB was back to its best in the third quarter and dominated play, kicking five goals to two, and going into the final quarter with a handy 48-point lead. Our boys worked hard throughout the last quarter but couldn’t make much headway on the three-quarter-time deficit. CCB ran out comfortable winners by 47 points.
