VOLLEYBALL – SANDHURST DIVISION

The BSSC boys’ volleyball team had one win and one loss to finish runners-up in this week’s Sandhurst Division competition. In their first game, they had a hard-fought narrow win against Catherine McAuley College, 21 – 19, 20 – 18. Girton also defeated CMC, which meant the winner of the final game between BSSC and Girton would win the competition. The first set was close throughout, with Girton finally closing it out 20 – 17. The second set followed a similar pattern, but the Girton boys were able to get a run of points toward the end to win the second set 20 – 8.

Great effort from the team: John Poloso, Bailey Keck, David Jugo, Jakob De Salvo, Hser Nay Kaw Thay Maung, Brodie Poole, Fletcher Runnalls, and Boyd Young.

Our girls’ volleyball team has automatically progressed to the Loddon Mallee Region finals in Mildura on Monday 4 May, as there were no other teams in the Sandhurst Division competition.

VICTORIAN TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

A number of BSSC students had success at last weekend’s Victorian Track & Field Championships in Melbourne. James Woods won the U/20 pole vault and placed second in the Open pole vault. Tullie Rowe won the U/17 2000m steeplechase, and was second in the 1500m. Abbey Hromenko placed fourth in the U/20 high jump. Kenan Seebah made the semi-finals of the U/18 100m, and also ran in a heat of the 400m. Matt Buckell ran in the heats of the U/20 1500m.

Congratulations to all who competed. The championships are spread over two weekends, so some of our students will compete again this weekend.
