CRICKET – LODDON MALLEE REGION FINALS
The BSSC boys’ cricket team has missed out on progressing to the SSV State Finals after being defeated by Mildura Senior College at this week’s Loddon Mallee Region Finals.
The team had a convincing win in their first game against Cohuna Secondary College. Batting first, the BSSC boys made 113 from their 13 overs, with Riley Burns (49 n.o.), Ben Williams (22), Jack Ginnivan (22), and Ryan O’Keefe (19) being the top scorers. Cohuna was then bowled out for 63. In an amazing spell of bowling, Noah Begg took 8 wickets for 6 runs from his 3 overs. He concede two runs from the first four balls he bowled, then proceeded to take 8 wickets from the next 14 balls.
The second game against Mildura was a must-win game, with the winner advancing to the final. BSSC batted first and made 84, with Ryan O’Keefe top-scoring with 29. Jack Ginnivan (20 n.o.) and Ben Williams (13) also made valuable contributions. Unfortunately Mildura was able to chase down the runs with about 10 balls to spare. Tom Martin was the most economical bowler, taking 1 for 6 from his 2 overs.
Great effort from our team: Dylan A’Vard, Riley Burns, Noah Begg, Jack Ginnivan, Kayde Howard (Capt.), Tom Martin, Jack Merrin, Ryan O’Keefe, Ben Williams, Nash Viney, Braydon Vaz, and coach Duane Anderson.
