26th July-6th August

Smile Squad is the Victorian Government’s fully-funded school dental program that provides free dental
services (both examinations and follow-up treatment) to all Victorian government primary, secondary
and special schools.

The Smile Squad dental team will visit Bendigo Senior SC from 26th July – 6th August to provide students
with a free annual dental health examination and free follow-up treatment as needed. All students are
eligible, whether or not they are eligible for Medicare or Child Dental Benefit Scheme.

At the first appointment (the check-up), Smile Squad will check the student’s teeth. Then, depending on
the student’s needs, services may include: x-rays, fluoride varnish, scale and clean, fissure sealants, a
free dental pack and advice about dental health and diet. If a student needs more treatment, like a
filling or extraction, Smile Squad will contact parents/carers and make a second appointment (which can
occur at the college or in the clinic at Anne Caudle). These extra treatments are also completely free.

For students who commence a course of care, all treatment is covered under the program, even if they
are no longer a school student. For example, if it is deemed that a Year 12 student requires a course of
treatment that will take 12 months to complete, the student will not have any out of pocket expenses,
even after they have graduated. The program does not include orthodontic or cosmetic procedures.

To book a 30 minute appointment: students can book an appointment by going to the college General
Office and collecting a consent form. This form must be signed by a parent/carer (unless the student is
18 years old) and returned before the appointment. Alternatively, parents/carers can call the General
Office on 5443 1222 to book an appointment and the student can collect the form.

If all appointments in this two-week window fill, we will open another two-week window later in Term
3.

I strongly recommend all students take advantage of this opportunity to have a thorough dental checkup, plus any follow up treatment, without any out of pocket expenses.
If you have any queries, please contact me or a member of the Student Wellbeing Team on 5443 1222.
