The BSSC Lions took on Catherine McAuley College (CMC) in Round 1 of the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Senior AFL Boys Premier League on Thursday 30th April at the Queen Elizabeth Oval.
CMC are coming off a Herald Sun Shield Grand Final appearance in 2025 and look dominate again in the 2026.
The Lions battled hard throughout the day with the score line not reflecting the pressure and intensity applied. Majors came from Billy Buhugiar, Archer Weeks and Ali Gill while the best on ground medal was awarded to Chase Poyser.
Our focus turns to Rowville Secondary College in Melbourne on May 12 before hosting St Josephs Echuca at Huntly on May 27.
Thank you to the Bendigo Umpires Association for supplying field and goal umpires. Thanks to Dean Sheldrick, Travis Matheson and Bill Higgs for coaching along with Ryah Mackie (timekeeper), Harrison Whitfield (boundary), Jack Bell (runner), Ari Morrissey and Clayton Smith (water).
