BSSC Alumna, Macey Stephens, was today awarded the inaugural Rotary Agriculture Scholarship at a special presentation by the Rotary Club of Bendigo.
The award was initiated as a result of Rotary fundraising at the Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show and is designed to reward interest in pathways to further studies in Agriculture.
Macy, who grew up on her family’s sheep and poultry farm near Bendigo studied VET Animal Studies over her two years as a BSSC student (2018 & 2019), building on her passion for agriculture. This year she begins a Bachelor of Business at La Trobe University, majoring in Agribusiness.
“The course is made up of a series of four agribusiness subjects delivered at different regional campuses, so I’ll have the chance to experience agribusinesses in different regions of the state,” Macey said. “I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of people from within the agriculture industry.”
Macey also thanked Rotary for the opportunity to follow her interests and “learn more about the things I’m passionate about”.
Head of VET & RTO Partnerships at BSSC, Jennifer Moloney, was guest speaker at the Rotary event and said she is often blown away by the professionalism of BSSC’s VET students and that Macey is a great example.
“It’s great to see Macey using her VCE and VET experiences to build a pathway in Agriculture,” Ms Moloney said. “She has impressed with the way she’s embraced her opportunities.”
