Kangaroo burgers and wattleseed biscuits were on the menu at today’s BSSC’s Reconciliation Week barbecue.
The yarning moved inside to escape the icy weather, with Luke Owens providing live music as the perfect soundtrack to the event.
Students, staff and community members could also leave their hand print as a way to stamp their commitment to the reconciliation statement:
Reconciliation is about talking, walking and working together to overcome the division and inequality between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians.
It is about acknowledging our true history and righting the wrongs.
It is a journey that requires commitment from non-Indigenous Australians to take responsibility for their own learning and role in the process of reconciliation.
