What a week for celebrations! On Tuesday evening our BSSC Student Council was awarded runner up in the VIC SRC ‘Most outstanding SRC’ award. Congratulations – this is a great effort from our students considering over 36 schools had entered.

“This award highlights the improvement our Student Council has made this year,” Student Council Vice-president Darcie Andrea said. “We moved from third place last year to second place this year, and considering the amazing achievements of Mount Waverley SC, the winners, we’re not disappointed.”

Kelly Phan also praised the efforts of other students around the state. “It was very inspiring to see the fantastic work that primary students are doing in their schools, and to get lots of different ideas about what is possible from people who believe in the same things as our own Student Council.”

The College congratulates Kelly for yet another achievement in an eventful year of accolades for her outstanding talents. Kelly was presented with the Newsboys Foundation SRC Leadership Award for her work in promoting student voice at BSSC and for her involvement in community leadership.

“I plan to use the grant I received to attend the Magic Moments Youth Leadership and Business summit in Sydney in 2017,” she said.  “The skills I will develop there will assist me to develop my own leadership attributes and to develop initiatives in my community.”

These SRC awards and are a wonderful tribute to all the great work our student councillors do as individuals and as a group amongst our student community. The acknowledgement of Student Council’s leadership and commitment to charity in these awards is well deserved.

Congratulations to Travis Matheson who has work alongside our Student Council throughout 2016.
