Who says you have to go to the Himalaya for significant adventures and cultural experiences?

Outdoor and Environmental Studies students joined VET Cert II in Outdoor Recreation students to attend a three day trip to Kooyoora State Park, 63km north-west of Bendigo.

The weather was great and the constant sunshine made it an enjoyable experience for students to complete a hike in groups of six with two Outdoor Education leaders from La Trobe University. The trip gave students valuable experiences and skill-building in navigation, rock climbing and bushwalking.

Importantly, students also learnt about the significant cultural connection of the Dja Dja Warrung people to Kooyoora for whom the name—Kooyoora—means ‘mountain of light’.
