Hundreds of prospective students and their families flocked to the Bendigo Senior Secondary College Open Day today to experience first-hand the world of choice offered by the state’s largest VCE provider.
Staff from every learning area across VCE, VET and VCE Vocational Major were on hand to offer advice on study programs, career pathways and the enrolment process.
There were information stalls in the Ulumbarra Theatre foyer and on the three levels of E Block where English, Maths/Science and Visual Arts teachers answered lots of questions about course selection.
Prospective students also had the opportunity to experience the college’s state of the art kitchen facilities and the Bendigo schools Trade Training Centre.
Madison, who travelled all the way from Kyneton for the event, said it was incredible to see the range of subjects on offer.
“It’s definitely a little overwhelming,” she said, “but the teachers have all been so helpful and I’m heading home with a much clearer idea of the subjects I’ll do in Year 11.
James, who hopes to study VET Engineering alongside VET Sport and Recreation as part of his study program next year, said he was really excited about the move to BSSC.
“It’s been great to look around the college and get a feel for it,” he said. “The Trade Training Centre looks amazing and the teachers there were really friendly.”
