Each week NETschool learners put aside time to develop their creative talents. This week has been no exception.

Everyone in the class agreed they have always enjoyed being creative and mentor, Emma Smart, is clearly a great resource and guide.

She is an artist herself and has also completed an art therapy course.

“It’s a great way to connect with other students and share something we all love,” says Avery.

Sam and Kruze agreed and Kruze said how much he appreciates having time put aside in the curriculum to be creative.

On Thursday students immersed themselves in creating drawings inspired by stained glass windows. Today they have began learning about candle-making—using luscious scents including berry and chocolate.

“It’s also very relaxing and we are able to try all kinds of new stuff,” said Phoebe.

Judging by the variety of art that adorns the wall of the school, there’s plenty of new stuff to come.

The medical profession has come a long way in recognizing the healing benefits of art. My hope is that someday the arts will be considered as significant in everyone’s lives as breathing fresh air, eating clean foods, and performing physical exercise.  (Quote from artist, Renee Phillips)
