One hundred students from three local primary schools visited BSSC today to participate in Multicultural Immersion Day, an annual highlight of Cultural Diversity Week at the college.

The day is not only a valuable learning experience for the primary school students and a chance to immerse themselves in other cultures, but also an important opportunity for BSSC students to enhance their leadership skills.

The whole day is designed and facilitated by BSSC students from diverse cultural backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Karen, Indonesian and Chinese.

Students from Violet Street, Marong and Goornong arrived to a smoking ceremony outside the BSSC Language Centre led by Koori Engagement Support Officer, Kerri Douglas, and a welcome from BSSC students, before the eager visitors began a series of activities that included Aboriginal art and storytelling, Tai Chi and Chinese paper art, chopstick skills, Karen and Indonesian culture, and a range of fun outdoor games – all with a strong cultural flavour.
