Congratulations to Year 11 student Meghan Frederick who was the recipient of an Australian Business and Community Network Scholarship.

The ABCN Scholarship Foundation provides mentoring and financial scholarships to exceptional students facing economic, family or social challenges which impact on their study or capacity to pursue their desired tertiary pathways.

Meg will receive financial support over Year 11, 12 and the first year of her tertiary education, to spend on study resources and to help alleviate financial hardship. The unique scholarship also provides each Meg with her own dedicated mentor from the Bendigo Bank, who will assist her with setting goals and developing valuable workplace skills.

“The scholarship means so much to me,” Meg said. “It’s given me a lot of motivation to succeed in my studies and definitely helps to keep me on track.”

Meg hope that ‘track’ will lead to a career in medicine, and her ambition to become a specialist surgeon.

“The scholarship comes with lots of extra bonuses,” Meg said. “I will attend a week at Trinity College in December, and I also get to be part of interstate leadership conferences and other types of networking. At the end of last year I went to a lecture and scholarship awards ceremony at Docklands Library.”

Meg was nominated for the scholarship by her former school, Eaglehawk Secondary College, and submitted an essay outlining her personal situation, highlighting her academic achievements, and explaining how the scholarship would benefit her pathway to university.
