Alec Waight – Year 12
What are the biggest challenges for you learning from home?
I find the biggest challenges for me are finding motivation to work off emails and completing book-related work. I also find, being at home, it’s much harder to concentrate during class times.
What do you like about learning from home?
I love being able to sleep in and not catch a bus—it makes mornings a lot smoother and easier. I also like working from my home computer and being able to complete IT related work from my own home.
Have you got a favourite place at home to work?
Because three of my five classes are on the computer, I find my desk in the study is the best place for me. I have great access to multiple computers allowing me to do multiple things at once.
Any funny, unexpected things that have happened as a result of learning from home?
My IT classes have to be the funniest… from a student being on top of their roof, to the entire class start ‘cults’ around not using a microphone or a webcam.
What do you miss most about physically going to school?
I miss being able to see people, and I really miss having help from my English and Maths teachers in person.
Anything you’d like to say to the rest of the BSSC community during lockdown?
I hope everyone is doing well and staying sane. And I wish everyone the best with theirs SACs and class work from home.
P.S. if you read all of this, I hope you have a wonderful day!
