MEAGAN MOORE – YEAR 12

What are the biggest challenges for you learning at home?

Like most people it is a struggle to find motivation some days. It’s easy to get distracted from schoolwork and waste time.

Which subject is proving the toughest to study remotely?

I find all my subjects are similar in workload and the way they are set up. It’s easy to find out what work I’m required to complete, but it gets difficult if I find some of the content confusing, especially if it requires a lot of explanation.

What do you like about learning at home?

I like being able to work at my own pace and even working ahead. If I finish some of my work earlier than the set time, I can look at the lesson plan for the next class and continue ahead.

Have you got a favourite place at home to work?

I have set up my desk in my room to do all my study with my timetable, calendar and assignment lists.

What’s your ISO exercise of choice?

I’ve been going for a walk around the neighbourhood, going on bike rides when I can and participating in my dance school’s online classes.

Any funny, unexpected things that have happened as a result of learning at home?

I have found I’ve been eating and drinking a lot more than usual, especially hot chocolate because of how cold it’s been.

What are you most looking forward to about getting back on campus?

Like everyone, I’m most looking forward to the social interactions with others. I miss my friends and even just the occasional interaction with a classmate or two.

What’s something you do to completely switch off from study?

Joining zoom calls with my friends and just talking as if we’re still at school.

Anything you’d like to say to the rest of the BSSC community during lockdown?

If you can follow your timetable as closely as possible it will help you stay on top of your work. Make sure to keep in contact with your friends too; and take some time off from schoolwork to have some fun.
