Congratulations to recently graduated BSSC student Kobe Mutch who was taken at pick number 42 by the Essendon Football Club in last week’s AFL Draft.
Kobe had an outstanding season with the Bendigo Pioneers averaging an elite 34 disposals, seven marks and five tackles a game. He continued this great form for NSW-ACT and the Allies which led to him being selected in the Under 18 All Australian team on the interchange.
Kobe averaged more than 20 disposals across both divisions of the National Under 18s Championships.
Here’s what AFL Draft Central had to say about Kobe leading into Draft night:
“Mutch is one of the hardest workers you will see at junior level and is willing to bust his gut to create link-up plays for his team. His marking numbers are a testament to this as he is always on the move creating space. With so much emphasis on work rate in the modern game, Mutch fits the mould.
“Mutch is also an extremely smart footballer. He sees the game that split second quicker than everyone else on the ground. This allows him to move to better positions to get the footy and often spread with his quick hands. He finds the football with ease and often makes great decisions with ball in hand.
“Consistency is another aspect that will be a tick in recruiter’s books for Mutch. His ball winning is outstanding and he always seems to have an impact on games. He is a true professional in the sense he prepares extremely well for games and makes sure he does everything he can to make sure he plays his best every week. This consistency makes him a valuable asset as he will back up strong performances, week in week out.”
