Year 11 and 12 Vis Comm students had a shot of inspiration today when they attended a session by renowned designer, animator and artist, Isobel Knowles, at La Trobe Art Institute.
Isobel shared her journey from a rural high school, to tertiary studies at RMIT, and now her life as a creator of music videos, exhibiting artist, animator, educator, and community project manager.
Along the way, she’s also toured the world with alternative band Architecture in Helsinki, created children’s books, and built her own freelance business—so students’ eyes were opened across a vast range of possibilities in the arts industry.
Isobel talked the students through a real-life project brief, from concept and storyboards to completed animation. She also revealed to process behind her work with Aboriginal artist Josh Muir, and the layers of animation she added to augment his artworks in the exhibition ‘What’s on Your Mind?’, currently showing at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
Students then visited the gallery to see her amazing work first hand.
