Senior VCAL students in Julie Clyne’s PDWRS class were hard at work on their Community Project this morning, inspired by recent media recognising ‘period poverty’ as a growing issue in the community.
Period poverty is the term used to describe the inability to purchase sanitary products and it presents a significant obstacle to health, comfort, and engagement with school and community activities.
Students worked with local organisation Share the Dignity www.sharethedignity.org.au/ to purchase products for their packs which they’ll hand over to the BSSC Wellbeing team this week to be distributed to families and individuals in need.
Share the Dignity works to make a real, on the ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough.
