Year 11 Visual Communications Design students were led through a workshop today that taught them some of the fantastic ways they can use Copic Markers.
These deceptively ‘texta-like’ pens are specifically set up so graphic designers can combine colour, vary tone and use a variety of other techniques, to get their ideas down quickly.
Tutor, and expert with the Copic Pen, Tania Diberardino explained to students that to succeed in the industry designers needed to be both ‘on trend’ but innovative as well.
“Those trends that seem so accidental can often be planned years ahead,” she said. “You need to be able to add a splash of another colour or introduce some other feature that makes your design individual. Copic Markers are one way to do that really efficiently and effectively.”
Students began practicing fundamental techniques that they will apply in future to their own designs and ideas.
