Next week we will welcome two Council of International Schools (CIS) visitors for three days. Ray Davis and Joel Buccholz will have a series of scheduled meetings with staff, students, parents and college council members to confirm BSSC’s International accreditation status.

Ray and Joel will also visit classrooms and attend our staff meeting. I’m sure you will all make them welcome.

CIS School Accreditation is an evaluation process that drives a school’s continuous improvement, through a rigorous evaluation against internationally-agreed standards. Based on a peer evaluation, the process brings together international educators from across the diverse world of CIS-accredited schools in a five-year cycle.

CIS mission, values and ethics incorporate recommendations made by the International Task Force on Child Protection and embrace the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Declaration of Human Rights.  Consequently in all CIS schools there is a strong focus on wellbeing and protection of students.

BSSC was the first government school in the world to be accredited by the CIS in 2001, and we have proudly maintained our accreditation since then.  As a member of CIS, BSSC is proudly devoted to promoting sustainable school improvement, innovation and being a research-centred school developing challenging international programmes for our students.
