Abbie Correll knew she had worked hard during VCE and hoped to walk away from BSSC with an ATAR of 95.
“When I opened the email, and saw I had a 99.05, I was so surprised I let out a massive squeal.”
VCE is always a tough gig and Abbie describes the last couple of years as being like an up and down journey. She identified the workload as the biggest challenge—but says managing her expectations, as they ranged from hope to despair in an endless cycle, was part of the challenge too.
Although Abbie is yet to finally settle on her future plans, it’s highly likely she will study a double degree in Law and Arts (Linguistics). This seems such a natural step for a student who achieved a perfect score of 50 in English Language, and 47 in Legal Studies.
Abbie says there are heaps of people she wants to thank—including family and friends—but singles out her English Language teacher, David Van Es; her Legal Studies teacher, Prue Winter; and her Advisor, Ian Kellett.
“I hardly have words to describe how wonderful my teachers have been. I’ve had so much support from people who have been so adamant about not taking credit for the importance of their encouragement.
“This college is so amazing and gives such a wide range of opportunities to such a wide demographic.”
Other fabulous ATARs went to Ned Howie (98.45) and Alex Sparkes (97.15).
