BSSC congratulates Victorian CERT III in Horticulture SBAT of the Year, Ngatatji Bysouth.
Ngatatji says he went to the SBAT Awards Dinner held in Melbourne last week, convinced he had no chance of winning.
“When it got down to just two of us, and then they said my name, I almost couldn’t believe it.”
He says he felt incredibly nervous giving his acceptance speech.
Ngatatji has been completing a SBAT (School-Based Apprenticeship Traineeships) with Parks Victoria through CVGT (Central Victorian Group Apprenticeship Scheme).
Alongside Parks Victoria and CVGT, support for the SBAT program comes from the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA), and Nalderun Castlemaine.
Ngatatji has thoroughly enjoyed his role helping Parks Vic maintain the many kilometres of trails that run through the forests of Central Victoria.
“I’m a very outdoors kind of person, so this has been ideal for me,” he says. “I hope to get a full-time job with Parks Victoria in the future.”
Ngatatji—we wish you, and all our SBAT students, every success!
