Last week 14 of our students attended the Communities in Control conference at Moonee Valley Race Course to hear presentations from a number of national and international leaders and commentators.
This conference was provided free to our school which was incredibly generous and the quality of the speakers was outstanding.
As the only student group at the conference, BSSC’s young people had the chance to ask lots of questions and to meet with many of the presenters and were treated like royalty. Speakers openly welcomed their questions and they were given the wonderful treat of being able to engage in high quality conversations with a number of the speakers off stage, including Dr Jordan Nguyen whose work is currently being profiled on Catalyst.
They were also given priority treatment for a photo shoot with Magda Szubanski. The students were just buzzing with enthusiasm and excitement and were fortunate to have been able to be involved in this event.
Many thanks to Angie Pollock who organised the event and attended the first day and to Scott Collier who supervised the students.
