Bendigo Senior Secondary College staff and special guests gathered on Wednesday evening to honour the college’s longstanding principal, Dale Pearce, who retires this week after almost 19 years in the role.

Fittingly, the event was held in Ulumbarra Theatre—a venue that might never have existed without Dale’s innovative foresight.

Performers Meg Pearce and Ryan McPartlane provided the soundtrack which set the scene for family, friends and colleagues to celebrate Dale’s leadership and accomplishments.

The list of Dale’s achievements after 45 years in education is substantial and includes the remarkable physical transformation of BSSC facilities and the expansion of services and opportunities for students.

A speech from Kylie Hand and a special video message from the Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan, paid moving tribute to Dale.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for Dale to acknowledge the support he’s had at the college and to share stories and reflect on an incredible career.

“I’d like to think that I have always made decisions based on a path that would best suit the college,” he said.

From across the BSSC community, thanks and appreciation for Dale’s tremendous contribution have been flooding in.
