Positivity, support, honesty, compromise and healthy boundaries will all be promoted and celebrated at Bendigo Senior Secondary College’s Healthy Relationships Day next Wednesday.

Students are invited to come to the Language Centre at lunchtime to meet local service providers, such as Bendigo Community Health and Headspace, who will have stalls to provide information and giveaways to students.

BSSC staff and Student Council members will also be giving away fresh popcorn and other goodies to eat as well as running competitions and games for students that reinforce the importance of healthy relationships.  Please come along, have some fun and get tips on healthy relationships.

Assistant Principal Linda Lyons says the day is an important part of the college’s school year.

“Relationships are an important part of who we are and how we think about ourselves, whether they are friendships or romantic relationships. Changes and conflict within relationships can cause stress and impact other parts of young people’s lives.

Healthy Relationships Day is about providing students with information to help them deal with problems or issues in their relationships, as well as giving them the knowledge to build healthy relationships with their friends, families, partners and peers.”

BSSC’s Wellbeing staff provide individual support and assistance to students to develop their physical, social, emotional and spiritual health through college programs and events like this one, as well as individual support, throughout year.
