More than 50 music students from Bendigo’s Year 7-10 colleges were given a glimpse into BSSC’s Music department today when they attended an entertaining information session at the Strategem Studio.
The interactive session had students clapping rhythms and singing scales while they discovered what the VCE subjects ‘Music Performance’, ‘Styles & Composition’ and ‘Music Investigation’ have to offer. They also heard about ‘VET Music’, a more practice-based subject that will be offered for the first time in 2020.
BSSC Music Coordinator, Ash Bird, spoke about the many performance opportunities that would be offered to them as BSSC students before introducing three very talented Music Investigation students.
Aaron Mannix played an incredibly complex Jeff Beck guitar piece called Led Boots. Bass player Tom Forrest stepped into the shoes of Tool’s Justin Chancellor, While Kristian Knight gave a commanding performance of Van Halen’s Panama.
