KIP PRESTON TAYLOR

Kip Preston-Taylor’s dark, wire-hooped dress was designed and created on his theme of ‘Textures’. His initial idea of using felt was too expensive. Instead, he worked with what he found and what he could afford.
“I wanted dark colours so the contrasting lining would really be a feature,” he said. “Although I made the initial sketch and the pattern, I’ve never made anything like this before and I just let the process unfold—it’s a nice surprise to see the end result.
“I want to have a career in fashion and I admire Issey Miyake, Alexander McQueen and Kiko Konstantinov—they are all very different but have a common sense of the sculpting of their garments.”
