The annual BSSC ANZAC ceremony is on Thursday 21  April in the Ulumbarra theatre. The event gives everyone at BSSC the opportunity to join with the RSL and the wider Bendigo community to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our veterans.

The college’s ANZAC commemoration begins at 10 am.

The guest speaker for 2016 is Defence Force communications specialist Brigadier Steven Lee AM.  Brigadier Lee retired in 2014 after a distinguished 31-year career in the ADF.

As part of the ceremony, BSSC musicians will perform Beach Burial and a new work called Reflections on Long Tan composed by Matt Pankhurst and BSSC music students. Talented BSSC trumpeter, Amber Bittner, will play the Last Post and Reveille.

Students should note that there is an altered timetable for Thursday.  Period two, red/D block, will be moved to 8.50 – 9.50 am. To save congestion and time the directions below are to be followed:

  • Classes from G, P and E and the Language Centre buildings, enter via the old gaol gates entrance.
  • Classes from C, trade training and B, enter via the new canteen doors.

The theatre should be filled from the front. No bags, food or drink will be allowed in the theatre. All mobile phones need to be switched off and hats will need to be removed at appropriate times.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests, students and staff will be invited to take part in the long standing tradition of walking up the front steps that were built as a memorial to honour all Bendigo High School students who served in World War II.
