What are the biggest challenges for you learning from home?

Personally, the hardest part about the new home learning situation is the separation from the social aspects we experience in school. Not only missing my friends, but also the class discussions that allow me to gain new perspectives on the topics that we’re learning.

What do you like about learning from home?

I have enjoyed the freedom to be able to pace myself with my work and I feel as though I have been able to complete more work in a quicker time frame due to less disruptions and distractions However, my motivation has been hard to maintain some days.

Have you got a favourite place at home to work?

I have been sitting at my dining table to complete my work which I like because my dad is also working from home and it’s nice to have some background noise, plus someone to talk to so I don’t go completely insane. I also have a separate room that I use when I have an online class or need some quiet time to focus on my work, which is helpful.

What’s you ISO exercise of choice?

I’ve been enjoying going on bike rides around my neighbourhood and also going for walks.

What do you miss most about physically going to school?

Like most students, I think we all just miss being able to see our friends and just the everyday things about being at school like going to the canteen, or the activities and events that are run near the canteen. It’s all the little things that we take for granted each day that I’ve missed the most. I never realised how much I enjoyed those small events like barbecues and themed lunchtime activities.

What’s something you do to completely switch off from study?

I try my best to keep to my normal routine as if I were still going to school, so once I finish doing the homework I need to do for the day, I leave my school things in the other room and relax with my family. And do some exercise to get myself out of the house for some fresh air.

Anything you’d like to say to the rest of the BSSC community during lockdown?

The main thing I hope every student knows is that we are all in this together and there is not one person who doesn’t understand what you’re going through and that everyone wants to help and support each other so we can all get through this. So don’t hesitate to reach out to teachers and other students to seek help for anything.
