Zonta International is a leading global organisation empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. It envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognised as human rights, where every woman is able to achieve her full potential, and where no woman lives in fear of violence.

The Bendigo Zonta Club offers a number of scholarships and awards throughout the year, designed to recognise, encourage and support deserving young women to remain in, and excel at secondary or tertiary education, to be excellent citizens, and to achieve excellence in her chosen field.

The Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award aims to encourage young women to participate in public affairs. It recognises commitment to the volunteer and civic sectors, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to empowering women through service and advocacy.

‘Public Affairs’ refers to all aspects of community life where decisions have to be made about issues which relate to and affect those communities in which people work and live.

The scholarship itself is to the value of $750.00, and is open to any young woman aged 16-19, who has a proven history of involvement in Public Affairs. A cheque for that amount will be presented to the successful applicant at our 2020 International Women’s Day Dinner, to be held on Tuesday 3 March 2020 at the Conservatory, All Seasons, in McIvor Rd, Bendigo.

Applications close on Wednesday 5 February 2020. Please note that there is a component of the application process which needs to be completed by the college.
